I feel really sorry for not writing anything for two weeks. Time went so fast the last weeks and there happened many things. I will list the main events and add some pictures, if I took some...
The Bandshow was a competition, where seven different School Bands were competeting against each other. It's not only standing in a line or in a half circle and playing some music with different instruments. No, it's a show, which is telling a story with its music and the colorguard who acts with flags a. o. tools next to the band.
The competition was circa 2 hours with the car away from Cumberland. But it was definitly good, that we watched it, 'cause the bands were awesome. I liked their stories and how it was harmonating with their music. There were stories of a fairytale with prince and princess, one school had the Hunger Games with Katniss and Peter and my favorite: the "Vampire Night" in which the Colorguard is biting the instrumentalists of their band.
Our band even won the competition and I have to say they deserved. The title was "The Night of Circus". Actually kind of scary, with murderer-clowns and so on. And they did a great job, although our marching band isn't the biggest, they goaled the best score ever.
I went to the show with my hostmom and Frida, who is also an exchange student but from Norway. I like it, that there are so many other exchange students in our school, so we can talk about every problems we have, and so on. We're liking each other and it's just nice to know, that they can understand you the best in regard of the exchange year.
At the next day we (again Frida, my hostmom and me) went to the pumpkin padge. It is actually a big farm, where they are selling pumpkins in every size and a huge maise field. You can also drive with the truc and every hour they activate the "pumpkin canone", which is real fun :D
It was a nice day, the sun was shining and it was very warm for this time of the year, so a perfect day for going to the padge. The best thing we did there was the "Mega Maise"; which is a huge labyrinth in the corn. I think we needed almost an hour to get out of it (without cheating)
After the visit at the pumpkin-padge, we went to a presumably norwegine restaurant/bakery and ate a piece of
cake (mine was blueberry crunch :> ) But Frida told us afterwards, that nothing in the restaurante was norwegine. They've had "norwegine" sentences on the menu Frida wasn't able to read.
I assume they mixed something up :.D
