Finally there is a break in the school year because of Thanksgiving. Through we don't celebrate this day in Germany there might be some guys who don't know for sure, what that actually is. To leave no open questions I'll give a short explanation for you :)
Thanksgiving is a harvest feast first celbrated by pilgrims and Wampanoags (Native Americans) 1621 in Plymouth, America. It is one of the major holidays in the United States. Today they celebrate it traditionally with a big turkey dinner in the family on the 4th Thursday in November.
So this Thursday (22th November), we're going to have a turkey dinner at the house of my hostmom's stepmom. I think there will be many people. But it'll be fun. I try to take pictures of the dinner. Oh and I shouldn't forget to mention the day after Thanksgiving. It is known as the "Black Friday". It is probably one of the largest shopping days of the year in America. Everything is reduced in its price, even grosheries. Why? I have no clue, if I'm honest :D
Anyway.. I'll go shopping, too but at first for the time seeing all those crazy people who are waiting for that the shops are opening since midnight. It's an event I'll probably not watch in Germany ;) I even have already some advertisements in my e-mail box: "Visit our stores on Black Friday! Everything at least 50% off."
Next: I've got my first "final grades" for the quarter, which are actually only a check-up for parents. And my grades here are kind of the same like in Germany, except that I never "really" study. The thing is I have no Physic class for both semesters and I wanted to take a high niveau physic class for my A-levels. I hope, that I will not forget as much as I probably will in Latin, because I don't have this class here either. I look forward to study in the next summer break...
But I'm nevertheless sure; it was the right decision to do this exchange year. I'm learning here different things than in Germany, like using Photoshop or Html5, which is really interesting and I love to work with, jus because I wasn't really good everytime we used it in my German school :D I've never really understood it before..
By the way this week we created some Black and White Pictures with Photoshop. I uploaded mine. You can find the in the "Other" site on my Gallery, so everybody can see it. I really like editing pictures with this technique, because you can highlight special things with their color so easy and it looks so cool :)
Tomorrow is my mom's birthday and I hope that I can finish my project for her, so that she can see the final result...
Wish you all a happy Thanksgiving :*
I already listening to Christmas music :O
